Nengkong
Find retreat in the tranquil embrace of Nengkong village, where fertile lands meet ancient caves and rivers whisper through forested hills. Experience the soul of Garo farming culture and explore mysterious caves in the quiet rhythms of rural life untouched by time and tourist trails.
Tucked away from the usual Garo Hills tourism circuit, Nengkong is a serene farming village also known as the “Vegetable Bowl of Garo Hills”. Nengkong owes its fertile soil and abundant produce to its location on the banks of the Chibe River, near its confluence with the Rongdik. Surrounded by dense greenery, rolling hills, and a tranquil atmosphere, the village is a retreat for tired souls. One of its most fascinating attractions is the Tetengkol Balwakol, or Nengkong Cave—locally referred to as the "Cave of the Dwarfs" —a vast limestone cave system believed to be among the deepest in the region. Explorers can trek through its chambers filled with stunning stalactite and stalagmite formations. Visitors can also interact with local farmers, learn about indigenous agricultural practices, or simply enjoy the untouched landscapes that make Nengkong a hidden gem for nature lovers and offbeat travelers.
