Umngot
Nestled between the idyllic villages of Dawki and Shnongpdeng, the Umngot River carves the valley that splits the Khasi and Jaintia Hills and flows into the plains of Bangladesh. Water adventures here include snorkelling and scuba-diving while visitors can also enjoy a serene traditional canoe ride on the crystal clear waters of the river. With visibility up to 30 feet, it is often called the “cleanest river in India”. Paddle through the calm, emerald surface and feel the rush of gliding over what looks like floating air.
